Yes Chef! Challenge on Spoonflower

Today voting opens on Spoonflower for the latest design challenge: Yes Chef!

I joined the challenge with a colorful print called Fish Restaurant, inspired by some of my favourite fish and seafood dishes.

I’ve been experimenting with a more painterly style recently and decided to apply it to this print. Since I wanted to use Procreate to create all the motifs, a bit of planning was needed: as much as I love the software, it doesn’t really allow you to freely move motifs around without quality losses, especially when rotations are involved. This is the reason why I usually create the motifs in Procreate, but then move to Photoshop where I convert each one of them into smart objects and finalize the layout.

For this specific design, I also created a first stylized draft in Illustrator, where I played with the layout until I was satisfied with the result.
